Alsace wine route with a private driver

Half-timbered villages, vineyards as far as you can see and tastings at family wineries: the Alsace wine route is easy to enjoy in one day from Strasbourg. Our Mercedes van takes you there, waits for you and brings you back. It suits families, groups of up to 8, elderly travellers and anyone with luggage.

Tours are charged at an hourly rate, quote on request.

How it works

  • Your driver picks you up at your hotel or home in Strasbourg.
  • You choose the villages and the pace, and the driver adapts.
  • In Riquewihr and Kaysersberg, the driver waits for you in the village centre.
  • Nobody has to drive, so everyone can taste the wine.
  • We work 24/7, including 24 and 25 December.

A sample day

Driving times are approximate, based on usual times without traffic jams. This is an example only: the length of the day and the stops are up to you.

TimeStop
9:00Leave your hotel in Strasbourg
9:40Obernai: a walk and a coffee
10:45Drive south
11:30Riquewihr: visit, then lunch in the village
14:00Kaysersberg: fortified bridge, old town
15:30Eguisheim: circular streets, tasting at a winemaker’s
17:00Drive back to Strasbourg
18:10Arrive in Strasbourg

A calmer option: just three villages (Riquewihr, Kaysersberg, Eguisheim) with more time at each. It is often the best choice with children or with people who walk more slowly. Castle option: the Haut-Koenigsbourg in the morning (opening hours change with the season, check haut-koenigsbourg.fr).

Distances

From the centre of Strasbourg, Riquewihr is about 71 km away, around 58 minutes, and Kaysersberg about 78 km, around 1 hour 3 minutes, depending on traffic (OSRM road calculation).

Good to know

  • Entry tickets and tastings are not included in the price of the tour. Some wineries ask you to book, especially for groups.
  • In December each village has its own Christmas market calendar: see Christmas villages on the wine route.

Van or saloon car?

The van (up to 8 passengers with luggage) suits families and groups. The saloon car (up to 3 passengers) is enough for a small party. More than 8 people? Call us: several vehicles on quote. Child seats on request.
