Distance and journey time
From Place Kléber to Mulhouse station (the arrival point we used): about 115 km, around 1 hour 25 minutes by car depending on traffic (OSRM road calculation). The route follows the north-south axis of the Alsace plain.
Why go to Mulhouse?
- The technical museums: the Cité de l’Automobile (a collection of vintage cars) and the Cité du Train are the two best-known visits in town. Check their websites for hours and prices.
- The station: Mulhouse is a rail junction. Our guide Getting to Strasbourg from the airport notes that direct trains leave Saint-Louis station for Mulhouse, Colmar, Selestat and Strasbourg.
- EuroAirport (Basel-Mulhouse) is further south, at the Swiss border. For a flight, see EuroAirport transfer.
- Business and family: Mulhouse and its surrounding area form an economic hub in southern Alsace.
What about public transport?
TER regional trains connect Strasbourg and Mulhouse, as listed in our guide Getting around Alsace without a car: a good option in the daytime if you travel light. Check times and fares on SNCF Connect. The van is simpler with suitcases, in a group, or when no train runs at the time you need.
