Getting to Strasbourg from the airport: a simple guide for every airport
Strasbourg has its own small airport, but many international visitors actually land somewhere else: Frankfurt, Basel-Mulhouse, Zurich or Paris. That is perfectly fine, as long as you know what comes next.
This guide takes you through each airport, one by one: how to reach Strasbourg by public transport, and when a private van with driver is the easier choice.

Strasbourg-Entzheim: the closest airport
This is the city’s own airport and by far the easiest arrival.
By train. According to the airport, a shuttle train runs up to 5 times an hour and reaches Strasbourg central station in 8 minutes. A covered walkway leads straight from the terminal to the “Entzheim-Aéroport” platform. Tickets are sold from machines at the airport and the station. There is also a combined train + tram/bus ticket valid for 24 hours across the Strasbourg area: handy if your hotel is not next to the station.
On-demand shuttle. A bookable electric minibus called Flex’hop serves the airport and nearby towns. You must book in advance, so it is mostly useful if you are staying near the airport.
By private van. The train drops you at the central station, not at your hotel. With suitcases, small children or older relatives, the tram plus a walk over cobblestones can be tiring after a flight. A driver meets you at arrivals with a name sign and takes you to your door. An airport → hotel transfer in Strasbourg costs from €55.
Good to know
- Live train times are on the airport website and on TER Grand Est.
- If your hotel is inside the Grande Île (the historic centre), car access is restricted. We agree on the closest drop-off point with you beforehand.
Basel-Mulhouse EuroAirport
EuroAirport is popular with visitors to Alsace. It sits in the far south of the region, close to Switzerland. One thing to know: the airport has a French side and a Swiss side. For Alsace, follow the signs for the French sector.
By bus + train. According to the airport, bus line 11 leaves from the French arrivals forecourt for Saint-Louis SNCF station every 15 to 30 minutes, from 5 am to midnight, and takes about 10 to 15 minutes. From Saint-Louis, direct trains run to Mulhouse, Colmar, Sélestat and Strasbourg.
By private van. The most comfortable option for a family or group: no bus-to-train change, no suitcases on platforms. It also works well if you are staying in Colmar or on the Wine Route, which lie between the airport and Strasbourg.
Good to know
- Buy your train ticket ahead if you can, especially for Friday evenings and Sundays.
- Visiting Colmar? EuroAirport is often a smart place to land. See our Colmar day trip guide.
Frankfurt Airport
Frankfurt is the big international hub most long-haul travellers use for our region, with flights from North America, the Middle East and Asia.
By train. It is doable, but usually involves at least one change (for example in Frankfurt, Mannheim or Karlsruhe, depending on the time). Check times on SNCF Connect or Deutsche Bahn and leave yourself a buffer, especially with luggage.
By private van. After a long-haul flight, this is often the most restful option: you get in at the airport and get out at your Strasbourg hotel. A transfer between Strasbourg and Frankfurt Airport costs about €550 for the whole vehicle (up to 8 passengers), not per person.
Good to know
- The price is for the whole vehicle, not per person.
- Your driver waits in the arrivals hall with a name sign.
- Give us your flight number and we track your arrival.
Zurich Airport
Zurich is another international gateway to the region.
By train. You will usually change in Basel. Journey time depends on connections: check the Swiss railways (SBB) or SNCF Connect.
By private van. Useful for groups with luggage or late arrivals. Get a price in 30 seconds with the simulator.
Paris-Charles de Gaulle
Some high-speed TGV trains run directly from “Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2 TGV” station to Strasbourg, without going into Paris. From CDG, this is often the simplest route: book ahead on SNCF Connect. In Strasbourg, we can meet you at the station and drive you to your hotel or to a village in Alsace.
Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden (Baden-Airpark)
This smaller German airport, just across the Rhine, mostly handles European flights. Public transport to Strasbourg exists but involves changes. A van transfer is usually simpler: check the price in the simulator.
Train or private van: which one for you?
Take the train if:
- you travel light;
- you are one or two people;
- your hotel is near the station or a tram stop.
A private van is easier if:
- you are 4 to 8 people (the price is for the vehicle);
- you have lots of luggage, a pushchair or a folding wheelchair;
- you travel with older relatives or young children;
- you land late at night or very early;
- you are staying outside Strasbourg (Colmar, the Wine Route, the Black Forest).
Our drivers speak English, French and Arabic. We run a Mercedes van for up to 8 passengers and a sedan for up to 3.
Good to know: what we need for your transfer
- Flight number and scheduled arrival time.
- Number of passengers and suitcases.
- The exact address of your accommodation.
- A phone number we can reach on arrival (WhatsApp is ideal).
And the way back?
Follow your airline’s check-in deadline: that is the time that matters. We then work out with you when to leave your hotel, allowing for traffic.
In December, during the Christmas markets, roads and stations are busier, so allow extra time. Planning a winter trip? Read our Strasbourg Christmas market guide.
