1. CTS public transport
According to the CTS (Strasbourg public transport operator):
- tram, BRT and Chron’hop: until 00:30;
- buses: until midnight;
- Hibus (night buses): Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights only, one departure an hour from 00:30 to 05:00. Three routes: N1 (Pont Saint-Nicolas to Pont Phario), N2 (Campus d’Illkirch to Hoenheim Gare) and N3 (Mathieu Zell to Kehl Bahnhof). Any valid CTS ticket works;
- Taxibus: for suburban residents, between 20:00 and 23:45, from tram stations at times that depend on the zone;
- Route C8: an on-request service for women travelling alone or with young children, every evening from 22:00 to 00:30.
Times can change: check the CTS website or app before you go out. Outside these hours, you need another way home.
2. A taxi or a private-hire car (VTC)
At any hour, you can also use a taxi or a VTC. The difference is mostly in how you get one: according to the French ministry for ecological transition, a taxi can be hailed or booked, while a VTC works only on advance booking. For details, read our article Private hire vs taxi in Strasbourg.
3. Book a driver in advance
If you know you will be back late, booking spares you a wait in the cold:
- 24/7: we work all night, including 24 and 25 December and after midnight on 31 December;
- price announced before departure, for the whole vehicle, not per person;
- up to 8 passengers in the van, 3 in the saloon car: everyone gets home together;
- after a late flight: the driver waits with a sign and we track your arrival.
Guide price: from the station or airport to a hotel in Strasbourg, from 55 euros. For another journey, the simulator shows the price.
4. An evening at the Christmas market
In December, motor traffic is banned in the Grande Île during market hours, according to the City. We cannot promise a drop-off at the market: the driver drops you as close as possible and picks you up at the agreed time. An evening at the Christmas market by van starts from 105 euros. See Strasbourg Christmas market.
Tips for a smooth evening
- Note the last tram time before you leave, and keep some margin.
- Agree a clear meeting point with the driver.
- In a group, sharing a van is often simpler than splitting into several cars.
- To get to Germany, line N3 goes to Kehl Bahnhof (Thursday to Saturday nights); otherwise, ask us for a quote.
